Field import: The GPT field-map elements can read electromagnetic field-data calculated by external solvers such as Superfish and TOSCA. Other codes are supported via a generic tabular ASCII or GDF file format.

Electrostatic, magnetostatic and RF-cavity maps can be imported for 2D and 3D geometries. There is no restriction to the size and density of the field-maps, as long as there is sufficient memory.


GPTwin color-density plot of the electric field strength in the TU/e 2.5 cell rf-cavity. The TM-profile was calculated with Superfish and automatically imported into GPT as a 2D cylindrical symmetric field-map. Results of particle tracking simulations through this structure are shown here.
